Dear
Parents DISCIPLINE In recent weeks I have had parents complain that staff do nothing when an incident occurs. Usually, this means that a child has gone to the teacher and the teacher hasn’t done what the child thought should happen. For instance in one recent case three staff spent 1 ˝ hours each (a total of 4 ˝ hours) resolving a problem in the playground. The truth of what happened was discovered and eight of the nine boys received discipline of varying degrees. Still, one parent complained that nothing had been done. However, if your child complains to you, please contact the school. We will then show you what has been done. The benefit of this approach is that parents will soon see how committed the staff at Inverell Public School is to supporting your child. However, in some cases incidents happen and students don’t tell the teacher. If your child has not told a teacher, please contact either Mr Fawcett – Year 5-6 Mrs Baxter – Year 3-4 Mrs Brown – Year K –2 and they will follow up what has happened. DISCIPLINE POLICY Currently the staff are revising the discipline policy. This draft revision will be presented to parents at the next P & C meeting Thursday 18th June at 7:15pm. This is a very important opportunity for parents to have their say about discipline at Inverell Public School. If you would like a copy of the draft please contact Mrs Baxter at the front office. This will give parents the chance to read the document and then offer constructive comments at the P & C meeting. HALF YEARLY REPORTS To assist our reporting process to parents, children complete many tasks. A display folder has proven to be the best way of keeping these tasks. This display folder is then forwarded home at the end of Term 2 and returned for the same process at the end of Term 4. All students are requested to have a display folder. Display folders are available from the school office for $1.50. MOTHER’S
